“Wow you are so lucky; you have 2 days off a week”
“Your timings are 9 am to 2 pm – that’s it, so lucky”
“Your office is just 10 minutes, that’s great, you are quite lucky”
I often get these remarks about my profession, its timings, and location, but is that true?
Well, it is not true that I am lucky, but what is that I have worked really hard to reach where I am. Also, I am working very hard to become what I have planned for myself. I have worked 3 jobs where I was humiliated, made fun of, insulted, shouted at and finally, I have found out the profession, which matches my hobby. Writing is something I have always fancied and to get a job related to that is a cherry on the top.
My first job taught me not to mix up personal professional relation, which I could not understand until I got to know my character was judged on daily basis because of my friendliness. Also, I was judged on the basis of my attire and me being a female.
When I transferred to the second job, it drained me for 10 straight hours. It was target oriented and people put a lot of pressure. There I learned how to handle seniors and not to quit what you have started, just finish it. I grasped, you only have to help yourself, no one else will, everyone is plain selfish.
My third job taught me anyone can say anything to you and you have to listen because they are your seniors. It depends on you that how you will take a lesson from it. I was shouted on badly by my immediate senior and I cried for the whole day.
I learned all these things and I decided to execute it in my fourth job, the one where I am currently working.
But once I was done with crying and weeping over, I taught myself to get up and go ahead instead of sulking over the past. Life isn’t exactly easy, but what is the fun if everything is perfect. What is the fun if everything is good and you do not get to learn anything?
So, now when people tell me, “You’re quite lucky.” I say, “It’s not just fate, it’s my hard work that brought me here and it’s my hard work that will take me where I want to go.”
Luck is there, but there exist something like Hard Work too, don’t forget that.
